Arar Eid drifter jailed

A 20-year-old man was sentenced to three months in jail and his car bounded for a month on Thursday after an Arar traffic court found him guilty of injuring three people, including a child, while drifting.
The incident goes back to the first day of Eid, on Aug. 8, when the driver struck the three young people, who were among the many spectators watching drifting cars in the Al-Faisaliya district in the city.
The traffic court said that the case will still be processed by the city district court.
The injured are said to be improving. It is still unknown as to whether the driver will face additional jail time after serving his sentence.
“The traffic department is trying to combat this dangerous practice from spreading,” said Col. Ali Al-Rashidi, spokesman for the General Directorate of Traffic Departments.
